Bricolage means making something new from whatever is at hand. We are a collective of photographers in Aotearoa New Zealand who take that idea seriously: the camera, the scene, the file, the print and the edit are all raw material, there to be used, reworked and recombined.
Must a photograph explain what we see? What happens when we distort, fragment, remix or reimagine it? Can an image invite us to feel, wonder or see differently?
Our work ranges from the quietly observed to the openly abstract, but it shares a willingness to treat photography as a process rather than a record. We take risks, challenge conventions and try things that might fail, and we build the trust that makes that possible: honest, kind feedback and no pressure to conform.
Our differences are the point.
